The ‘Winter Blues’

1/4/2022

The glad tidings of Christmas are over and the winter blues will try to take its place. I often wonder if “winter Blues” is the correct term. Maybe, we’re just tired from the holiday preparations.
Perhaps, we’re apprehensive because we know cold weather and staying inside will be our focus for the next few months.
Whatever it is, we all get a bit dreary this time of the year and there is nothing wrong with that. Emotions are what make us human. Still, most of us are reaching for better lifestyles. With that in mind I’d like to list a few things to help sway the doldrums.
Exercise- Bundle up and go for a walk. Even a short stroll in the yard will improve your outlook.
Motivate yourself- Something simple like painting a room a calming color or beautifying your nails will put a smile on your face.
A nice fragrant candle encourages our senses and eases the ho-hums

Nurture the spirit-Curling up in a comfy chair with a good book or writing in a journal can help you shake the blues, especially if the cozy chair is next a sunny window.

Let us not forget to read our Bible. The Holy words of promise do wonders for our soul.
Some nice verses are:
“My soul, wait thou only upon God; For my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, Pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”  Psalm 62:5-8 KJV

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

“The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, To the soul that seeketh him.”
Lamentations 3:25 (KJV)

“Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14 (KJV)
What are some of the things you do to keep a cherry outlook, on a cold winter day?
